About Me

Performer

I have been performing since 2005, creating and touring my own solo and duo shows across the world. Rooted in circus and making, I strive for my work to be playful, inventive, and most at home in outdoor spaces — connecting with audiences from all walks of life.

I graduated from Circomedia in 2007, where I specialised in Physical Theatre and Equilibristics & Manipulation (juggling), I later went on to teach there, leading the Street Theatre module for over a decade.

I have performance styles which are verbal and non-verbal but always enjoy improvising and making something of an unexpected moment during a performance. I like to try and engineer unexpected moments either through some of the things I make for my shows and also the way I interact with the audience.

Alongside touring to internationally renowned festivals and events, I have also worked extensively at a local level across the UK, engaging communities through outdoor performance and delivering projects in schools that promote creativity and STEM learning through my performances and workshops.

As a self-taught maker and “DIY engineer,” my creative process often begins with building — designing and constructing the objects and contraptions that inspire my performances. I am most energised by bringing these creations to life through public performance, where making, play, and audience connection come together.

You can see all of my shows, past and present, here. Performance dates here.

Maker

I take pleasure in making physical things. My making practice stems from a desire to create a specific effect, function, reaction or interaction in relation to my performances and public engagement.

Making is an integral part of my creation process when creating new performances or public facing work.

My skills have grown from what I need to make and so my skills develop on a “need to know basis”, learning new skills or processes as I need to.

I enjoy making things which move, are functional, solve a problem or a need. I have no formal training in making or engineering so consider myself a DIY engineer, learning as I go by observation, problem solving, trial and error.

I like working with reclaimed materials and found objects, where ever possible I try to reuse and give materials a second life.

For my own projects I prefer to make things in a way that you can see how they work as I find this visually pleasing and interesting to look at, often resulting in Heath Robinson-esque looking contraptions.

Over the years I have been commissioned to make various things for other performers, companies and arts organisations. You can see the things I’ve made here.

If you have something you need making or just need some advice please feel free to get in touch!

Community Organiser

As a self-producing artist, I’ve developed strong skills in bringing together ideas, budgets, logistics, and engaging people — experience I now also apply to community projects focused on creativity and sustainability.

My practical, hands-on approach to making shows and props, and the problem-solving that comes with it, naturally led me to an interest in repair and reuse. In early 2024, I founded the Hanham Repair Café as a volunteer and have since worked on repair-focused projects in local communities, including curating repair skills workshops, re-launching Repair Cafés, and organising and producing community events and festivals.

You can find more information about some of the community projects I have worked on here.
